There is a constant debate going on. It is about whether you should build your list by offering products for free or charging for them. Well, the best answer that I can give, is what do want your list to be comprised of?
Some people are just looking for numbers. They want to build their list to be the biggest as possible, in the quickest amount of time.
Numbers are good, but I value the quality of my list more than most people. I would rather have a list of 1,000 people that are really eager and willing to buy from me. They trust me and are hungry for more, from me. As opposed to, this big huge list of 10,000 people who don’t want to spend any money.
That is where selling your own product comes into play. I love building lists, by selling a product. It’s so easy to do and doesn’t really require much work.
After people make a purchase, give them a chance to sign up for your mailing list before they download your product. Always give them the option to get your product, without joining your list. It’s really not that ethical to make them sign up, before they can get your product, plus they might already be signed up for your list.
